I recently read another business leader’s blog about how you can have it all in business and lack in your personal life. While this might be true, chances are that your trains in business leak into your personal life and visa versa. It doesn’t matter if you spend 80 hours at work or 80 hours at home, if you possess any of the following traits- you’re bound for failure. Don’t worry. You can change. You can improve your life in any area (relationships, business, job searches, weight loss, etc.), so recognize these unhealthy traits and address your goals.

#1. Jealousy.  Great people love to see people succeed. Being jealous is too time consuming and a big distraction, especially when it comes to areas within the business realm. If you tend to be jealous, figure out a way to steer clear of those emotions. Trust me, jealously will hold you back in every area of your life.

#2. Pride.  I’ve watched people pass over great opportunities as a result of pride. Don’t let your pride rob you of meeting someone great, doing something great, or putting extra money in your pocket. Having confidence is awesome. Allowing pride to stand between you and an opportunity is just foolish.

#3. Dishonesty.  A small lie can impact someone’s life (and not in a good way). You’ll be amazed the amount of heartbreak and setbacks people have had to face in their own lives because of another’s careless lie. I rather be unpopular in business and tell the truth than lie and harm someone’s future. Not only will dishonesty eventually catch-up with you and ruin your reputation, it can cause other people to make life changing decisions based on your life and that’s never fair.

If you can stay away from being jealous, becoming too full of pride, and skewing the truth then your life and goals will remain on track. Have you ever made a life-changing decision based on what ended up being another person’s lie? I want to read your story. Please leave a post.
