The Associated Press released a report today noting how the construction industry is improving day by day. In fact, numbers are at an all time high since 2008. So what does it all mean? Well, we here at Building Team Solutions are able to connect more companies with employees and provide more people with jobs. How fantastic is this?! Anyway, an average of  7,000 new construction jobs have been added in each state since January of this year.

If you’re looking to obtain a job in the construction field, please apply with us. But, there are some tips to help you go from applicant to employee. They are listed below.

1. Right now is prime time for summer construction jobs, a perfect way to get your foot in the door if you have no construction experience. Summer jobs are temporary and employers are willing to comprise a bit when it comes to experience.

2. Call construction companies. That’s right, don’t rely on old newspaper ads or online posts that may not be up to date.  Call your local construction companies and ask to speak with the hiring manager. Be honest about your goals, your employment needs and ask if there are any opportunities. You will have an honest answer directly from the source- not cyberspace.

3.  Join a union. Local unions are great as far as educational resources. It may take forever to obtain actual work, but you can brush up on your training and experience while waiting.

We’re so pleased people are finally heading back to work, in record numbers, within the construction industry. To read the full article, please click here.
