We post many construction jobs. We connect several applicants with the right company. While we act as the vessel to help many people transition jobs, Building Team Solutions can’t do it all.  Once you have landed a new job know that it is solely up to you to keep it.  Here are some tips for making a great impression with a new employer.

#1.  Do your research. Having knowledge of company culture, from tiny details to overall attitudes and politics, is key. You might be asked about your opinion on these topics or you can bring up these topics during awkward silences. Either way, the more you know about the company you work for- the better!

#2.  Know what your boss wants you to do before he or she asks. Anticipating your boss’ needs is a great way to express what a great match you are for the company. It also shows that you’re reliable.

#3. Continue to be happy you have the job. People often fail to be happy to have landed the job after the first thirty days of employment.  After a month employees have become acclimated to their new surroundings, co-workers and the job’s culture. Don’t get comfortable. Don’t become bitter. Don’t expect an immediate raise or promotion. Continue to be happy that you landed the job. Being positive helps people gain promotions.

Knowing how to make a good impression may have landed you the job. Knowing how to continuously impress your boss will help you keep that job.
