BIT CONST and BTS are involved with and supportive of broad diversity and support of small minority owned business… especially women owned businesses. But why does this matter, because if you read all the current findings including these listed below from American Express Open study:

“women-owned firms are exceeding
overall sector growth in eight of the 13 most populous
industries, and in two of those industries (construction
and transportation) women business owners are
standing toe-to-toe with their competitors in terms of
revenue accomplishments.”

“The rate of growth in
the number of women-owned enterprises over the past
16 years remains higher than the national average.
Between 1997 and 2013, the number of women-owned
firms is growing at 1½ times the national average”

Simply stated, as a “Business Owner #1” a tax payer #2, and I just happen to be considered a minority. I feel compelled to help lead by example for others to follow suite. Being minority Diversified does NOT mean you get special treatment , you still fight just as hard to win work. At the end of the day, sometimes you have to work harder to prove yourself we still have to prove we are : QUALIFIED AND COMPETITIVE .

But I do believe that we can encourage more minorities and especially women to join the ranks of fellow Construction Business Owners. So what are you waiting on ladies: Get your Idea out, dust it off and start your Business Plan! You are the economic engine of America right now. Lets take a refreshing look back at those days gone by where women like Rosie the Riveter helped ignite enthusiasm with American women.

Need help getting started, search for Micro Lenders and Small Business Administration Offices in your city, other great organization that help and offer no or minimal start up help are places like SCORE .

I used all these places and more to help me when I first decided to be an Entrepreneur and launch a part time business in 2005. Now I heavily rely on organization like WBENC for continued education, support and leadership refinement as I now own 2 business (both who by Gods grace weathered the recessions!)
