Here at Building Team Solutions we hire all types of employees.  We cater to the construction, industrial and administrative industries. Regardless of what industry you work in, the last thing you want to be known as is a ‘jerk employee’. So, how do you avoid being the most dreaded person to work with on staff? Easy.

Start off by by joining your fellow employees at social events. If you’re quick to leave work and not go to work-related events, you’re being a jerk. You are sending a message that you have no interest in being a part of the team and you’re segregating yourself from the team. We’re not saying go to every single Happy Hour or company baseball game, but make an effort to attend most of them.

You share way to much personal information. This is a huge no-no. I know we spend a lot of hours at work. But, no one really wants to hear you complain about your husband or wife. Your financial business isn’t of any interest to your coworkers. You need to keep the conversation away from politics, religion and any other information you wouldn’t want published on the front of your community’s newspaper!

You delegate work…. all of your work! It is OK to delegate work. However, if you delegate all of your work or are constantly asking for help then you’re a jerk.  Why should others pick up your slack? If you can’t do your job then don’t expect to be paid for it!
