People don’t often consider just how important Human Resources is. The same goes for hiring and firing the right employee.  The people you select to work for you could ruin your company. Or, they can help it expand and grow. Your employees create a culture that is either positive or negative. Knowing how to create a productive and friendly culture is key- yet, often an ignored aspect within companies.

When hiring you have to consider experience, drive, pay rate and so forth. But, you also have to consider the individual candidate. Will he or she fit in with your company’s culture?  We here at Building Team Solutions are not implying that all your employees will get along or walk in smiling and greeting each other  with a sincere “good morning.” But, being pleasant and non-snippy with each other should be happening every day.

We suggest business owners and hiring managers take a look at their staff and the atmosphere. Are people gossiping? Are there more unhappy employees than happy ones? When was the last time your company took part in a team building exercise?  Does your company have an open door policy when it comes to complaints and concerns? Are all the issues involving one person?  What’s your benefits package like?

You need to ask yourself these questions because the answers reflect your company’s culture, gossip within the brand, and if your company is going to grow because of employees or be ruined because of them.

Happy Sunday,
