It can happen. You can be on Twitter and suddenly come across a compelling biography that screams “hire me!” So, is it worth looking into? Yes! More and more men and women are hiring talent based on Twitter profiles. But, you can be fooled. If you are going to start seeking job candidates on Twitter understand there are some tell-tale signs that the profile is great but the candidate isn’t. So, how can you tell if you have a real lead?

Always use a reliable app when seeking candidates on Twitter. We can take care of this for you at my company. But, the resources are:

or

You also want to cross-search the potential employee before you approach him or her. Google the screen name and see what comes up. Are the job points consistent? Has the candidate composed anything negative about his or her current (or former) employee? What are his or her social habits? You may not be able to ask for a candidate’s social media information on a job interview. However, you can Google search the public profiles of potential candidates before you approach for an interview.

I always encourage the companies I work for to seek out the details. I, of course, help weed out the potential problematic candidates. If you are going to use Twitter, use common sense. If you believe a candidate’s profile is too good to be true- it probably is.

My company uses a wide-array of resources to find you the perfect candidates for any position. It is good to know about hiring using social media, but the time it takes to review all potential candidates can be overwhelming. Contact me if you want us to find your next great hire on Twitter!
