work1You’re seeking work. You’ve tried everything. You’re frustrated. Don’t be. Sometimes we, as people, get caught up in our habits. While habits are good when it comes to finding work; we often forget to change our approach as the times change and new media evolves.

Here are my three simple tips to NOT finding a job. If you’re practicing one of them, pivot. Changing your job-seeking habits can mean the difference between finding a job or not. And, of course, contact us to help you research and connect with new opportunities.

1. Don’t count on a job board. Yes, a physical job board is not updated as often as it should be. The posts are almost always old and the positions already filled. The only job boards you should be counting on are the one offered by companies like ours or hosted by the actual companies themselves.
2. Hit up blogs. Employment blogs often offer help on how to find a job but, more importantly, what jobs are currently available. It takes a little time and research but it is worth it.
3. Establish yourself in your industry. While you are researching employment blogs, start writing your own as if you are an expert in your industry. Offer to write for other blogs, too. This will help build your resume and can connect you with employers by accident – but with an amazing outcome.

So, if you’re counting on a physical job board, ignoring social media blogs and not writing about your industry- you’re making mistakes right now when it comes to employment and will have more trouble than most when it comes to finding work.
